Heather & Austin // Peach Orchard Wedding

It's always special when two people take time to create a wedding day that is personal and represents them. Heather and Austin worked together for months (and months) to plan and design a wedding with meaning and heart.

Enjoy their story below, then hear from Heather and Austin themselves!

Tell us about your wedding day.

{Heather} Wow. Where do I even begin? It was absolutely perfect in every way possible! Austin and I dated for 7 years and it’s something we’ve literally dreamed about from the beginning. The Abbott field has always been “our spot.” I can’t tell you how many times over the years I’ve made the comment to Austin that it would be cool to get married out there under the tree. But the place was a mess….for real. Anyway, on a weekend trip to the beach with my college roomates, Austin spent that time cleaning up the old house and under the tree. He proposed to me under that tree…and from then on I knew we had no choice but to get married there. SO, with that being said….Our wedding day was perfect: We were surrounded by our family and friends in the perfect place on the perfect blue-sky day.

What was your most memorable moment of the day?

{Heather} My most memorable moment of the day had to be the moment we jumped in the truck right after we were pronounced husband and wife. Austin and I sped away through the orchard to spend a few minutes alone together. That’s when it actually hit me that we were really, truly and officially MARRIED!

{Austin} I don’t know how to narrow it down to just one moment. The whole day was incredible. But I have to say, when I saw Heather coming down the hill it was all I could do to keep from crying. I’ll never forget the joy I felt knowing what was about to happen.

What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding?

{Heather} The biggest challenge while planning the wedding was getting the field ready. We literally had to bring in everything from chairs, tables, and restrooms… even electricity! But thanks to the awesome help of our wedding planner Tara, and our wonderful parents and grandparents we were able to bring it all together!

What was most important to you when you were wedding planning?

{Heather} From the beginning, choosing our videographer and photographer were at the top of the list. I researched and researched and researched! When I found Hampton Road Studios (Ashley and Matt) and Little Acorn Photography (Jackie and Luke) my search ended immediately. They were both husband and wife teams and I knew they would be perfect for us! The guys spent the day with Austin and his groomsmen while the girls spent the day with the bridesmaids and myself.  By the end of the day, Austin and I felt like we had known Ashley, Matt, Jackie, and Luke forever.

Tell us about any meaningful detail/special moments during your ceremony.

{Heather} There are so many! First of all, (I guess this is considered pre-ceremony but…), my Mom styled my hair for me that day. It meant so much to have her by my side and playing such a huge role! I know she was super nervous, but if I do say so myself- she nailed it! A special moment (again pre-ceremony…) was the time I got to spend with my Dad in the truck at the top of the hill. We were able to watch everyone be seated for the ceremony and that was pretty neat. My favorite moment of our time together- Dad revving the Chevy’s engine as we drove towards the ceremony- “Just so they know we’re coming,” he said.

{Heather} The most special moment of our ceremony was removing our purity rings and putting on each other’s wedding bands. That was an indescribable feeling. Speaking of indescribable, Austin and I wrote our own vows to each other and that, too, was indescribable. It was so much harder to speak when the time came to say them, but it was worth every happy tear shed in the process!

{Austin} In addition to getting to say “I do” and hearing Heather’s beautiful vows, I’d also say that my dad performing the ceremony was very special to me. It’s something I’ll never forget and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I don’t know how he kept it together as well as he did but I was proud to have him stand up there with Heather and me for the ceremony.

Tell us about meaningful details during your reception.

{AustinJust having so many loved ones there in one place was overwhelmingly awesome. We couldn’t turn a corner without seeing someone special, and all night people were coming up to us with smiling faces and best wishes.

{Heather} Also, the toast by Austin’s two Best Men and my Maid of Honor were pretty awesome. Robert and Marvin were hilarious, making people laugh as always. Kayla, my Maid of Honor and college roommate of 4 years, said some of the sweetest words I’ve ever heard in my life.

Tell us about finding your wedding dress

{Heather} Well, let’s just say that was a process! I didn’t want lace and I didn’t want a long train.  Six stores and what felt like a thousand dresses later, I fell in love with a beautiful lace dress with an incredibly long train! (I think my mom and Maid of Honor knew all along I would end up with a lace dress…thankfully they were patient with me!)

What advice do you have for couples currently planning a wedding?

{Heather} HIRE A VIDEOGRAPHER! They are worth every single penny. I promise you.

What’s next for you as a couple? What are you most looking forward to about married life?

{Austin} We’re moving to Atlanta so Heather can begin graduate school and become a Physical Therapist. It’ll be good to finally have a place there that we can call our own. We’ve always looked forward to living together. It’s been something that we’ve wanted for a long time, so it’s going to be great to finally come home to one another at the end of the day.

Rachel & Brian // Auburn Wedding Video

Meet Rachel and Brian. Not only are they super smart (aerospace engineers), super crafty, and super fun, but they're also two of the sweetest people you will ever meet! We're lucky enough to have gotten to know them and hang out with them over the past year! There are so many things we could say about their wedding, but we'll let them do the talking!

We loved ...

... That they made (almost) everything at their wedding! This was definitely a DIY wedding. Rachel and Brian spent a lot of time together in the months leading up to the wedding creating meaning details for their day. It is awesome when couples plan the wedding together! Not only does it represent both individuals, but it also brings you closer leading up to the big day! We gave them the hashtag #craftiestcoupleever. And it is so true! They made all the flowers, Rachel's birdcage veil, invitations, Save the Dates, programs, doors, playlist, bunting and so much more!

... Their vows and speeches during the ceremony! Rachel and Brian took time to write vows that really spoke to each other. Brian started with "I love you because" and tell a reason he loved Rachel. Then he said "Because I love you" and made a vow to her. Then it was Rachel's turn, and then back and forth. This was a beautiful way to make unique vows to each other, speak their heart and share their heart with their loved ones. In addition to their personalized vows, they also asked five loved ones to speak during the ceremony in leui of reception speeches. This was a beautiful and unique touch!

... Brian's grooms cake! Brian made his Oreo groom's cake and it not only looked awesome, but was a perfect idea. And no Oreo cake is complete without milk! As a fellow Oreos dunked in milk fan, this could be one of my favorites!

... The cake cutting! The cake cutting is one of my favorite traditions. It's fun because it can go anyway. Will they be nice, will they shove it in each other's face, will one be nice and the other not? However, when I saw Rachel get the custom Mr. and Mrs. Reitz aprons out, I know it was going to get serious! And they did not disappoint! The aprons did their job and all attire went unharmed.

Congratulations Rachel and Brian! Thank you for trusting us. We had an absolute blast !!

Camille & David // Napa Valley Wedding

We first met Camille at a wedding we were filming in 2010. She was the (super talented) photographer and we instantly clicked with her. Flash forward to earlier this year, when I received a text asking if we were available for May 4th for someone who was "possibly engaged." We were beyond excited for Camille and could not wait to meet David! Camille is seriously so sweet, funny, genuine and honest, you instantly want to be her friend!

Camille is multi-talented, and is not only a talented photographer, but also a talented nurse. When she was working in San Francisco as a traveling nurse, she fell in love with Napa. So, she decided to have a destination wedding in Napa and have all of their friends and family fly in for an amazing experience.

We loved ...

... the southern charm they brought to California! The south is all about friends, family, good food and drinks. The long rectangle tables were great for conversations as food was passed down the table. Laughter filled the vineyard.

... friends and family traveled from all over to Napa! Having a destination wedding creates an intimacy among everyone there, because they all had gone to great lengths to be there for Camille and David . Joy and love radiated from every guest there.

... they let the wedding reflect them! Camille and David chose a location that they fell in love with and did not let their geographic location limit them. They made their wedding about them and everyone else was lucky enough to go on the amazing journey with them.

... the head over heals love! They were so excited to be marrying each other. The way they talked about each other, looked at each other and held on each other simply radiated love! Every couple should be consumed with each other on their wedding day.

... they let the venue serve as the decor! Their wedding was gorgeous! However, instead of going overboard on adding to the vineyard, they let the beauty of the vineyard act as part of the decor.

... their vendors were not limited to the region they were getting married in! Camille and David's wedding video and photos were really important to them. So, instead of hiring someone in Napa that they did not know, they chose to bring the people they trusted with to them. Most wedding videographers and photographers love to travel! So, find someone you really connect with and bring them to you. After all, you will be spending a lot of time with them on your wedding day. Make sure they make you feel comfortable and relaxed.

Thank you Camille and David for trusting us to capture your amazing wedding! We feel lucky to have gotten to witness your amazing love!

Christi & John // The Battle House Hotel

Christi and John's friends realized they were perfect for each other! However, it took Christi and John a little longer to come to the same conclusion. Once they realized it too, they did not let Christi's recent move to Memphis stand in their way!

We loved ...

... their style! Christi and John's wedding had the perfect mix of classic, history, glamour and intimacy. The Crystal Ballroom at the historic Battle House Hotel in Mobile, Alabama was the perfect backdrop for family and friends to celebrate Christi and John's marriage. Christi dress looks like it was made to be worn at The Battle House!

... their smiles! They did not stop smiling all day! Throughout the morning Christi reminisced about meeting John and their relationship. They both kept saying how they could not wait to see each other. Once they were together, they were not more than an arms distance the remainder of the day!

... their faith! Christi and John began their relationship with God as the center and as they begin their marriage, they continue to put Him first. It is a beautiful thing!

Congratulations Christi and John! Thank you for trusting us and letting us be a part of your beautiful Mobile wedding!

Heather + Kurt | You & Me Against The World

Heather and Kurt had a beautiful Oak Island wedding in Wilsonville, Alabama. The March weather was absolutely perfect! It was just the right blend of warmth, sun and clouds. Their ceremony was on the edge of the water overlooking the lake. A perfect view!

We loved ...

... their "no-kissing" rule! Heather and Kurt had decided they would not kiss during their "first look." They wanted their first kiss of the day to be as husband and wife. It was cute to see them resist against kissing during their pictures. They were so in awe of how beautiful/handsome the other was. So sweet!

... their venue! Heather and Kurt had been telling us how amazing it was at Oak Island. They instantly fell in love with it and knew without a doubt, that was were they were getting married. As we drove in, we immediately loved it too. It was stunning! It was the perfect backdrop for their wedding and enhanced the romance of their day.

... their sunset walk! As the sun was setting, we had to grab Heather and Kurt and take advantage of the amazing view. As we walked along the water, they were in their own world enjoying being husband and wife. They enjoyed their alone moments before heading back to the reception to celebrate!

Thank you Heather and Kurt for letting us be a part of your amazing day! Y'all are awesome!
