Thanh + David | The Sonnet House

Thanh called us a couple of weeks before their wedding because they had decided they really wanted a wedding film. Thanh’s smile and energy just radiated through the phone and we instantly wanted to be a part of their wedding! Of course when we found out her wedding included some of our favorite people in Birmingham, The Sonnet House and Simple Color (Brandon & Stacey Gresham), we knew the day would be great!

We loved …

… that Thanh and David have been together since high school (they are now med students at UAB)! They were both a little nervous before the first time they saw each other, but once they were together they both relaxed. They fit together so well, like best friends should.

… the coming together of their two families! Thanh’s family and Vietnamese heritage blended perfectly with David’s family. Throughout the day, all four of their parents were after together dancing, laughing and even sharing a few happy tears. It is so beautiful to see two families truly became one!

… how gorgeous Thanh was! Seriously, she could not have been more picturesque. And her smile lit up the whole place!

… the ringbearer Knight! He was seriously the most excited (and cutest) ringbearer Knight we have ever seen. He took his job very seriously and was going to save the princess. :)

… the vintage car they left in! The 1959 Jaguar Mark IX Saloon from Coats Classic Cars made for a gorgeous getaway.

Rakia + Patrick

Not too long after Rakia and Patrick were engaged, we had a Skype meeting. We instantly felt bonded to them! So, when April 20th finally arrived, we were so excited for their wedding!

We loved …

… their love and respect for each other! Within minutes of being around them (or watching their wedding film), you instantly see how head over heels in love they are. We love the look on Patrick’s face as he sees Rakia for the first time walking down the aisle. And Rakia does not stop smiling all day long! The looks they give each other will seriously make you melt!

… that Rakia and Patrick planned their wedding together! Weddings are often viewed as the bride’s day, but the wedding day should represent the coming together of two lives. Rakia and Patrick both spend lots of time putting thought into the details of their wedding day. When we arrived Saturday morning, Patrick was putting the last touches on the centerpieces. Also, Rakia couldn’t help following up on things while getting her hair and makeup done. Everything was perfect in the end and the day was a perfect representation of them!

… their great dance skills! It was so much fun watching The Hassell’s dance. It’s just the beginning of a lifetime of fun and laughter for them!

Thank you Hassell’s for allowing us to witness an amazing love story! We are so happy for you! You were no “Hassell” at all!

Stella + Sherwin

Stella and Sherwin had family from all over the world travel to their Huntsville wedding. It is not surprising that so many people traveled to see them get married. Within moments of meeting them, you instantly feel warm and welcomed, like you have been friends for years. They both have kindness that radiates from them.

We loved …

… the Kenyan culture! Stella is from Kenya and there were touches of the Kenyan culture throughout the day. The ladies were full of song all day as they lead Stella to the church, and then lead Stella and Sherwin into the reception. All of their voices were beautiful and they filled the air with a warmth and joy. I (Ashley) could have just listened to them sing all day!

… hearing their story! With family and friends from all over the world, some of them may not have known the story of how Stella and Sherwin met. They took a few minutes during the beginning of the reception to tell their story. It was fun hearing each side of the same moments! This was a great idea. Everyone loved hearing their version of those beginning moments that lead to their wonderful wedding celebration.

… the strength and love of their family! Stella and Sherwin’s families were full of advice to ensure their marriage was built on a strong foundation. The faith and love of all of their family brought them together as one unit to support Stella and Sherwin. This was a truly beautiful thing!

Congratulations Stella and Sherwin! We loved celebrating with you!

Amanda + Bob | Auburn, Alabama Wedding

Amanda and Bob met during their first week at Auburn University. Bob was knocking on dorm doors getting to know his neighbors. Little did he realize, waking up Amanda would change his life. Since their relationship began in Auburn, it was only fitting that their marriage began in Auburn also!

We loved …

… Amanda’s dress and veil! Amanda’s Alyne dress was stunning on her. The swarovski crystals on her veil sparkled as she walked down the aisle.  Everything looked so gorgeous and perfect!

… Bob’s tuxedo shirt! Everything looked formal and traditional when Bob had his jacket on. However, when the reception dancing was in full swing and his jacket came off. His sleeves and back of the shirt were pink. You could not help but start laughing! His brother-in-law even joined in the fun with his striped shirt.

… the reception! Amanda and Bob love to play golf. Bob proposed during one of their golf outings on a scorecard. So, having their reception at Moore’s Mill Club, was perfect for them! Kidd Blue kept everyone on the dance floor all night, even Grandma didn’t stop dancing. The lighting was perfect on their dance floor. The large globe lights were so pretty!!

Thank you Amanda, Bob and your amazing families for trusting us to be a part of your gorgeous Auburn wedding!

The Locklar Family | A Day In The Life

Something you may not know about me (Ashley) is that I have a Master’s in Accounting. I was an accountant for 6 years before transitioning to Hampton Road Studios full time.

My first job out of college was at a small accounting firm where I did auditing and taxes. There I met my sweet friend Carey! We were both newlyweds, working our first job, and figuring out our way in the “real world”. She was an amazing support and friend during our long hours at work!

Flash forward 6 years and our lives have taken us on journeys we never imagined! But thankfully through Facebook (of course), we have been able to keep in touch. Her family of two has doubled to include an adorable little girl and boy! They juggle life between family, work and her husband pastoring at a small church.

We had so much fun hanging out with the Locklars. Carey and Nathan are amazing parents and their family is filled with so much joy! We are so lucky to know this sweet family and to see them continue to grow!

Thank you Locklars for allowing us to spend time in your home!
